Route 1 Construction Continues In Lower Bucks Co.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Bridge and road construction is planned throughout the week on the Route 1 Traffic Improvements Project, PennDOT said.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said the work falls under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of Route 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships.

Drivers are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Sunday, Sept. 21, through Friday, Sept. 26, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange for bridge deck sealing.
• Monday, Sept. 22, through Friday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a periodic lane closure will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Route 132 (Street Road) Interchange for sign installation.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur.

All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

The work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract that will reconstruct and widen U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
