Route 1 Construction Continues This Week
PennDOT said two projects will be underway in Bensalem and Middletown townships. See the schedule below.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Route 1 roadwork resumes this week with projects both during the day and overnight, PennDOT said.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that construction activities are planned this week under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of Route 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships.
Drivers are advised of the following travel restrictions:

- Tuesday, Sept. 2, through Friday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a periodic lane closure will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Route 132 (Street Road) Interchange for rumble strip installation.
- Tuesday, Sept. 2, through Friday, Sept. 5, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange for bridge deck sealing.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time due to possible backups and delays.
All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

The work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract to reconstruct and widen Route 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business Route 1 interchange.
