Route 1 Construction Continues This Week

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Numerous construction activities will be performed on Route 1 and Rockhill Drive this week, PennDOT said.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said the work is under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of Route 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships.

Drivers are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Sunday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Oct. 24, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Route 132 (Street Road) Interchange.
• Monday, Oct. 20, through Friday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a lane closure will be in place on eastbound Rockhill Drive between Horizon Boulevard and Neshaminy Boulevard.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

The work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract that will reconstruct and widen U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
