Route 1 Intelligent Transportation System Construction Starts
PennDOT said construction begins Monday as part of the Route 1 Traffic Improvements Project in Bensalem and Middletown townships.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) construction is planned this week on U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships under PennDOT’s $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of U.S. 1 in Bucks County.
Drivers are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, March 10, through Wednesday, March 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Rockhill Drive and Fairhill Avenue to allow crews to shift northbound U.S. 1 traffic onto the newly built lanes on the bridge over Neshaminy Creek.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
