Slots Revenue Down at Parx; Up Statewide

April revenue down 6.76 percent over last year.

While slot machine revenue in Pennsylvania increased more than 8 percent this April over last, the slots in Bensalem’s earned nearly 7 percent less in that same period.

According to the Gaming Control Board, gross revenue for slots at the state’s 10 casinos topped $211.39 million in April compared to $195.25 million at nine casinos in April 2010. The slots at Parx, however, brought in $32.88 million last month compared to $35.26 in the same month last year.

Despite the decrease, Parx had the highest slot revenue of Pennsylvania’s casinos.

At other regional casinos, Harrah’s in Chester also saw slot revenue fall 9.23 percent from $26.73 million in April 2010 to $24.26 million this April and Philadelphia’s Sugarhouse had revenue of $14.54 million and wasn’t open last April.

Slots revenue in the state resulted in a return of $115,406,797 in taxes to Pennsylvania citizens in this past month, an average of $3.84 million of taxes collected per day from the 55 percent assessment on slot machine revenue.

At Parx, slots revenue generated nearly $18 million in taxes.
