Szafran To Be Sworn Deed Recorder June 6

He will no longer be a member of Bensalem council.

Bucks County’s new recorder of deeds Joseph Szafran, of Bensalem, will be sworn in by Judge James M. McMaster at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 6.

According to a release, the ceremony will take place in Courtroom 1 of the Bucks County Courthouse, Doylestown.

Szafran was nominated in April by Gov. Tom Corbett. That nomination was approved May 23 by the state Senate.

He was forced to resign his post as Bensalem council president.

“Council will have 30 days to appoint someone to fill my position until the end of the year,” he said, adding that township political parties would then need to place names on the ballot for the November election to serve the remaining two years on his term.
