Troopers Report Casino Incidents, Drunk Drivers, Fugitive
Individuals involved were from Philadelphia, Newtown and Norristown.

Between April 13 and April 18, responded to the following incidents:
On April 13 at 3:54 p.m., state police said an elderly woman from Levittown was the victim of theft at . The 87-year-old woman asked another casino patron to place a $170.69 voucher into her knapsack at the end of the bank of slot machines. That patron, however, didn’t do as requested, redeemed the voucher and left the casino. Trooper R. Keeys is investigating the incident.
On April 13 at 8:11 p.m., state police checked on a disabled vehicle on I-95 northbound at Street Road. A check of the driver, Luis Ortiz, 46, of Philadelphia, revealed that he was wanted on a Philadelphia bench warrant. He was transported to the Trevose station and processed. Trooper Joseph Krut investigated this incident.

On April 15 at 12:43 a.m., state police observed a vehicle driven by Michael J. McCafferty, 38, of Newtown, traveling on I-95 northbound at milepost 33.1 without his headlights on. Police observed him swerving. Police stopped the vehicle. McCafferty was found to be intoxicated, given a blood test, processed and released. He will receive a summons for DUI. Trooper Carrie Gula investigated the incident.
On April 16 at 12:23 a.m., state police stopped a vehicle driven by Francis Gifoli, 47, of Norristown, for going through a red light at the intersection of Woodhaven Road and Bristol Pike. Gifoli was found to be intoxicated, given a blood test, processed and released. He will receive a summons for DUI. Trooper Matthew Lopresto investigated the incident. Trooper Craig Acord assisted at the scene.

On April 16 at 3:53 a.m., state police checked on a disabled vehicle on northbound I-95 at milepost 32. Police observed the driver, Lateef M. Williams, 29, of Philadelphia, standing beside the disabled vehicle. Police said Williams was “extremely disoriented.” Two small baggies of marijuana were found in Williams’ possession. He was found to be intoxicated, given a blood test, processed and released. He will receive a summons for DUI. Trooper Craig Acord investigated the incident with assistance from Drug Recognition Expert Trooper Matthew Lopresto.
On April 18 at 2:22 a.m., state police responded to a theft at Parx Casino. Police said a 55-year-old female from Philadelphia left a $53 voucher at a slot machine. Lawrence Balderston, 58, of Newtown, took the voucher, cashed it out. When informed of the incident he paid back the money to the victim. No charges were filed.
