'Cop-e-tition' returns for second edition at Lehigh University

Lehigh University Police Department and Lehigh Dining Services by Sodexo team up for second "Culinary Cop-e-tition"

After a two-year hiatus, Lehigh University Police Department and Lehigh Dining Services by Sodexo team up for second "Culinary Cop-e-tition”, a police movie-themed cookoff.

Members of Lehigh University campus police partnered with Lehigh Dining chefs and sous chefs to create competing dishes. Student voted on their favorite menu, ultimately crowning a champion.

In the narrowest of margins, it was the team of Rathbone Executive Chef John Hynes and Officer Jaime Leauber who won by only one vote.

The menu, inspired by the 1980’s classic “Police Academy”, edged out Sous Chef Phil Dickinson and Community Officer C.R. Stokes who themed their menu around the 1990’s film "Bad Boys”.

Winning dishes included, chili cheese pigs-in-a-blanket, smoked brisket handcuff sliders, P.O.tato salad, fresh “copcorn,” chocolate covered batons (chocolate covered stick pretzels), Oreo cookie cake bombs, and a milkshake coffee drink.

“The competition is a great way for LUPD to showcase our thankfulness and support to Dining Services,” said Community Engagement Officer Jaime Leauber. “They work so hard all year providing delicious food for all of campus, and we appreciate that. It’s fun working together with them.”

Officer Leauber said she especially enjoys putting extra thought into making the food for this event.

“Seeing students enjoying our food and being so excited for this event is the real win,” said Officer Leauber.

The Lehigh University Police Department provides policing and security services to the Lehigh community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to protect the welfare and safety of students, faculty, and visitors.
