Lehigh Dining ensures quarantined students get nourishing meals

Lehigh Dining Services by Sodexo is working closely with the University to ensure that students in quarantine or isolation are properly fed and nourished.

After a student is placed in isolation or quarantine, they complete an online form to opt into a meal delivery program.

Meal packages are delivered three times a week, include meals for multiple days, and are much more than just “food in a brown bag”.

Executive Catering Chef Chad Licsko designed a specific menu to include foods that are healthy, nutritious, and comforting during a presumptive uneasy time for these students.

“We are fortunate that Lehigh Dining by Sodexo has partnered with us to provide quality food for our students who are in isolation or quarantine,” said Mary Kay Baker, Director, Office of Conference Services. “They have ensured that students are receiving quality meals with a 7-day cycle menu.”

Since students can be placed into isolation or quarantine at any time, the ordering process is fluid. Orders can come in at any moment and Chef Chad and his team are flexible and have been able to fulfill any request, even if it means coming to campus at 5am to produce a meal.

The dining team accommodates any special dietary restrictions. Chef Chad and his team have been customizing meals to fit student needs such as Halal, vegan, or gluten-free.

“Students being placed in isolation or quarantine already have ‘full plates’ (pun intended!) and knowing that their food needs are being taken care of certainly eases an already difficult situation,” said Baker. “Thank you to our Sodexo staff who are helping to make this happen all day every day here at Lehigh University.”
