Con Artists Warning, Missing Teen Found Top Bethlehem News

A 'major' crash on Route 378 and the reopening of the SouthSide Library also made headlines.

The Bethlehem Police Department issued an alert to city residents on Monday, warning that as spring and warm weather arrives, so do roving scam artists who often target elderly homeowners. Two city residents have already been victimized “so we know they are already in the Lehigh Valley,” police said.

Fifteen-year-old Kristopher Parker became the object of a police search after he ran away from home on Wednesday afternoon. Bethlehem police called out, via social media, for any leads to find the teen. By Friday, he had been located on Sand Island and returned home.

Route 378 in Bethlehem Reopened After Crash

A "serious" car accident on Route 378 between the Eighth Avenue exit and the 14th Avenue overpass shut traffic on the spur route in both directions for more than two hours on Sunday afternoon.

SouthSide Library Branch Reopens After Renovations

Bethlehem Man Charged with Raping Woman High on Drugs

Johann A. Fermin-Jensen, 21, who lives in the East Hills section of the city, was charged with rape on Wednesday—a day after he failed a lie detector test and then admitted to the attack to his examiner, according to court papers. His alleged 20-year-old victim told police that she had asked Fermin-Jensen to keep an eye out for her because she was incapacitated from taking an unspecified "controlled substance."
