Spreading joy through acts of service
Traditions of Hanover residents volunteered their time to help the nonprofit organization Joyful Giving by making 100 Joy Maker bags.

“We choose joy” is conveyed daily throughout the retirement living community at Traditions of Hanover.
“It’s our way of life. Our team strives to create joyful and meaningful moments for our residents every day,” Executive Director Cathy Heimsoth said.
It’s no wonder that a group of residents felt compelled to spread joy into the greater community by volunteering for the local nonprofit organization Joyful Giving to make 100 Joy Maker bags.

Each bag, filled with mini sensory-friendly toys and adorned with a hand-tied ribbon, will be distributed to patients at the Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital.
“I enjoy helping others, so I was happy to make the bags for Joyful Giving,” resident Rosemary Carlos said.

Hannah Votta Coleman founded Joyful Giving as a nonprofit branch out of her company, Joyful LLC, and has donated 15,000 Joy Maker bags globally since launching in 2022.
“One of the things we say at Joyful Giving is ‘Give Joy, Get Joy’ because we believe that you will feel joyful when you are giving your time to assemble Joy Maker bags. Our hope for the Joy Maker bag recipients is that they also feel a moment of joy and possible relief from the trauma they might be experiencing,” Votta Coleman said.
