Gladwyne WWII Veteran Passes at 92
Gordon B. Stewart earned several medals serving in the Navy.

Gordon B. Stewart passed away on Oct. 5, 2016 at Waverly Heights in Gladwyne, Pa. He was 92.
He was the beloved husband of the late Marie T. Kerrigan. Loving father of Edward (Naomi), Barbara Spiro Ryan (Robert), Ronald (Nancy), Virginia, Robert, Michael (Linda), Bernadette Carchedi (Claudio), Jennifer Sidone (Jerry), and the late Raymond. Dear brother of Sr. Marguerite Stewart, O.S.F. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson Edward Bruner.

Born in Westfield, Mass., Mr. Stewart served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Scribner, stationed in the Pacific and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the American Area Campaign Medal. In 1946, Mr. Stewart joined Philadelphia Electric Company; he was employed there for 35 years. He and his wife Marie were active members of Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Warminster, Pa. for over 50 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his life at a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 10 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, 350 Conshohocken State Road, Gladwyne, Pa. Interment is private.
