Enrollment is open for the Spring 2024 semester. OTA students may complete the majority of their coursework online, with in-person applied learning courses held once a week, allowing flexibility to accommodate working adults. Spring enrollees will attend in-person classes every Saturday, while Fall 2024 enrollees will meet every Friday. The program accepts eligible transfer credits for students arriving from other institutions. Students can earn their OTA associate’s degree in just two years.
The OTA Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). ACOTE approval of the Allentown site is anticipated to occur in December. The program prepares its graduates to take the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT®) exam, an essential milestone towards securing their professional license.
OTA graduates face strong career prospects and competitive salaries. In 2022, OTAs reported a median annual wage of $64,250. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 23% increase in the demand for OTAs from 2022 to 2032, a rate that surpasses many other professions. The OTA degree prepares students for diverse career paths in areas such as sports medicine, rehabilitation hospitals, orthopedic practices, and pediatric and early intervention practices. OTAs assist individuals of all ages and play a significant role in enhancing the quality of lives. Harcum College’s OTA program boasts a high licensure pass rate, and eligible students can apply for federal and state aid packages.
