National Bike To Work Day Set For Friday In Bryn Mawr

One of the most common excuses for avoiding exercises - the weather - won’t be able to be used this Friday on National Bike to Work Day in Bryn Mawr.

Potential non-motorized commuters will have ideal conditions to strap on a helmet and feel the breeze in their face as they take part in the national event.

The temperature at 8 a.m. will be 63 degrees, just warm enough to be comfortable, but plenty cool enough to avoid sweating through your work clothes.

Commuters should be able to hop off their bikes with a light bead of sweat on their brow and and an extra pep in their step. There is a zero percent chance of rain.

By 5 p.m., for the journey home, temperatures will only have risen to a balmy 75 degrees, the high for the entire day.

An interactive map of Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, Philadelphia, and the surrounding counties shows innumerable bike routes, from paths and trails to infrequently traveled roads, that commuters from Bryn Mawr can take Friday.

For those commuting to the Philadelphia area, there are a variety of “energy stations” being set up to support riders.

AM Energizing Stations will run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the following locations:

  • LOVE Park
  • Clark Park
  • The Penn Museum
  • 13th and Spruce Streets

PM Energizing Stations and community events will occur from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. here:

  • Chew Playground (18th and Washington)
  • 44th and Walnut

This is the 20th annual celebration of National Bike to Work Day in the greater Philadelphia area.
