Police Blotter: Public Drunkenness, Underage Drinking

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon,  reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne:

Public drunkenness: At 12:15 a.m. on July 19, a 21-year-old Connecticut resident was cited for public drunkenness. Police saw the woman staggering along the 1200 block of West Lancaster Avenue in Rosemont. When police approached her, she told them she was walking to South Street, despite the fact that she was in Rosemont walking west, police said.  She registered .22 on a preliminary breath test and was cited for public drunkenness.

Public drunkenness: On July 21 at 2:13 a.m., a 21-year-old Shillington resident was cited for public drunkenness on the 1200 block of West Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr, police said.

Underage drinking: Two 20-year-olds and a 19-year-old were cited for underage drinking on July 21 when police did a bar check at Maloney’s Pub in Bryn Mawr. When the police came in the front door, the three males tried to leave through the back door, police said; they were stopped and each had a fake ID.

Public drunkenness: At 12:07 a.m. on July 22, a 25-year-old Drexel Hill resident was cited for public drunkenness, according to police. Police received reports of an intoxicated pedestrian walking in and out of traffic. The man was found and stopped, and he said he was walking home—but he was walking in the wrong direction, police said. After registering .22 on a preliminary breath test, he was cited for public drunkenness, according to police.

Underage drinking: On July 22 at 1:20 a.m., an underage Langhorne resident was cited for underage drinking at Maloney’s Pub during a bar check, according to police.
