Seed to Supper Cooking Workshop on Saturday, January 25
Riverbend Environmental Education Center and Greener Partners are collaborating for a sustainable cooking workshop for kids and adults alike
On Saturday, January 25, 2025, Riverbend Environmental Education Center and Greener Partners are partnering for a Seed to Supper Cooking Workshop for ages 6 and up. This workshop is part of Riverbend’s Sustainable Living Series, and features the opportunity to learn about eco-friendly cooking, enjoy campfire pizza with handmade pesto, drink some smoothies, and warm up with a nice hot chocolate. Take a ride on Greener Partners’ smoothie bike, a self-powered blending machine, and enjoy a kid-friendly cooking lesson both indoors and outdoors at Riverbend’s beautiful nature preserve. This cooking workshop runs from 10am to 12:30pm, and each person attending must purchase a ticket. The ticket price covers both the learning experience and all the food and drink provided. Follow directions to Riverbend Environmental Education Center, 1950 Spring Mill Road, Gladwyne, PA.
Greener Partners is a Philadelphia-based non-profit focused on “strengthening community health through urban farming, equitable fresh food access, and discovery-based learning.” They have found through their school-based programs that kids are more willing to try and eat healthy foods after participating in seed-to-plate education. Greener Partners is also working hard to combat food insecurity by providing fresh produce to food-insecure hospital patients and through their Norristown Healthy Food Project.
Riverbend is an environmental education center located in Gladwyne, PA which “connects people to nature, equitably advancing environmental literacy through outdoor STEM education and free play in nature while empowering children and adults to take action to conserve Earth's resources.” They work extensively with schools in the Philadelphia region to impart students of all ages with natural knowledge, scientific curiosity, and hands-on learning experiences. They also host a variety of events and are located on a 30-acre nature preserve with a trail system which is open to the public.
