School officials said the job description was recently reposted with a note that former applicants need not reapply.

The school board scheduled interviews with 11 applicants, and interviewed eight of those in mid-March.

But school officials said Thursday that the job description was reposted recently, with a note that former candidates need not reapply.

At the direction of the board, the head varsity coaching position will be a stand-alone one—with no promise of a teaching or other job associated with it.

One school official source said, "We are back to square one."
