Canonsburg Council Considering $650K Line of Credit
The line of credit would cover the cost of renovations to the borough building until reimbursement is received from the state.

Canonsburg Council on Monday discussed measures to ensure there is no disruption to its $1.3 million renovation of the borough building—one that might require the governing body to take out a line of credit.
The renovation began Monday and will both double the size of the police department and make all of the borough building’s restrooms compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act.
Borough Manager Terry Hazlett said council would need to commit $23,164 of its 2013 local share allocation to pay its portion of a match to the $650,000 that is being provided through a state grant.

Council will also have to approve a $650,000 line of credit to cover costs until reimbursement is received from the state.
Hazlett, who is retiring April 30, also asked if council would approve Mayor David H. Rhome as the borough’s “point man” for the project until a new borough manager is hired.

Councilwoman Fran Coleman, speaking for the building committee, also asked council to consider having a representative from HMT Engineering at the site for a few hours on four days every week. Hayes Design, which is overseeing the project, will only have a representative on site one day a week.
