Canonsburg Council Discusses Parking Issues
Here's what happened at a special meeting called to discuss the matter on Monday.

Several proposals for adjusting parking rates were considered by Canonsburg Council Monday during a special meeting with downtown merchants—even though just two business representatives chose to attend.
After 90 minutes of discussion, borough Manager Terry Hazlett said council opted for a pair of possibilities: bagging meters for 45 days or offering tokens to merchants to pass on to their customers.Â
The impact of bagging meters, which was tentatively scheduled for Oct. 1 to Nov. 15, would be assessed by Manager Nadeen Steffey.

Should the tokens option be used, council would have to approve replacing all of its more than 100 meter heads to accept those tokens.
Current parking rates in are 50 cents per hour, with free parking evenings and weekends.
