Cecil Man Charged in Canton Burglary

State police charged Michael Tharp with burglary and other offenses.

A man is in Washington County Jail on burglary and other charges stemming from an incident last month in Canton Township.

State police in Washington accused Michael Tharp, 28, of burglarizing the home, the Observer-Reporter indicated on its website Tuesday.

Online court records show that Tharp was also charged with criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking, and recieving stolen property.

Tharp was arraigned Monday afternoon by district Judge Jay Weller and remanded to the Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $25,000 straight bond.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. July 26 before Weller, online court dockets indicate.
