Children Rescued, Fireighter Hurt In Pittsburgh Blaze
A dramatic rescue occurred early Tuesday during a fire at a Pittsburgh home. Patch provides the details.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Four young people were rescued and a firefighter was hurt early Tuesday in a two-alarm fire in the city's Perry North neighborhood.
According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, firefighters, police and EMS were dispatched to the 800 block of Woods Run Avenue just after 1 a.m. after reports of the blaze occurred. Ten people lived in the home, six adults and four juveniles.
Upon arrival, firefighters were able to rescue three children and a young adult from a second-floor window.

A 17-year-old male with autism was unaccounted for after several hours as firefighters conducted multiple interior searches of the structure. He eventually was safely located by police on Lecky Avenue just before 3:30 a.m. He was evaluated by medics on scene and did not require hospitalization.
All of the residents have now been accounted for and are safe.

Firefighters also rescued two cats from the home; a third was found deceased.
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents with emergency shelter and provisions.
