
Edith G. Hope, 84, of Canonsburg, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 in Canonsburg General Hospital after a long battle with diabetes.
She was born June 25, 1926 in Waynesburg, on Piper Ridge Road, the daughter of James and Estella Evans Piper. As a youngster, she attended a one-room school for four years in Westland. In 1945, she graduated from Jefferson and Morgan High School.
One June 15, 1947, she married Paul Hope, who died Jan. 1, 2008.

Mrs. Hope was a 50-year member of South Canonsburg Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.
Prior to her retirement, she worked in the dietary department of South Hills Convalescent Center.

Surviving is one son, Paul William Hope Jr. (Darlene), of Mayfield, Ohio; one daughter, Sharon Lezotte; one brother, James Piper; three sisters, Valerie Scherich, Dora Clay and Relda Litten; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Blaine Piper, Reed Piper and Lonnie Willison; three sisters, Cecil and Nannie Higginbotham and Mayme Zallar.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. t0 8 p.m. today at the Sollon Funeral Home, 30 E. College St., Canonsburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. with Rev. Steve Parkhill officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
