Getting Senior Pictures? Know the Rules

Hey parents: Did you know that the student yearbook has a list of criteria for senior pictures to be included in the publication?

If not, we have the skinny for you right here. And don't forget, pictures generally must be submitted prior to Thanksgiving break.

Here's what you need to know if you're submitting senior pictures:

• Photos will be edited as needed for the yearbook page. Only photos that meet the guidelines will be printed in the yearbook.

• Male Style Tips

1. Business casual
2. Collared shirts appear professional
3. School dress code applies
4. Schedule a haircut a week before your appointment to have portraits taken

• Female Style Tips

1. Business casual
2. Blouses or high-collared fancy shirts with sleeves are best
3. School dress code applies
4. Style hair out of the eyes and away from the face

• Background and Posing Guidelines

1. Neutral indoor backgrounds only—blue is preferred
2. Professional sitting only
3. No outdoor photos
4. Portrait placement for headshot
5. No profile shots
6. Head ans shoulder pose—no arms or hands
7. No props of any kind

• Digital Image Guidelines

1. Save on CD-ROM in JPEG files only
2. Submitted CDs much be labeled CMHS SENIOR PORTRAITS
3. Multiple students from Canon-McMillan High School can be placed on one CD
4. Each photo must be labled with the student's full name
5. Submit only one photo per student
6. High resolution files, three mega-pixels or greater
7. Maximum file size is 25 MB
8. RGB file format only

Photos may be emailed to yearbook@cmsd.k12.pa.us or submitted to Canonsburg High School care of Yearbook Staff, at 314 Elm St. Ext., PA 15317.
