Layoffs Hit State School System

Clarion University cuts jobs, with more possible at five other colleges.

Two of the 14 schools in Pennsylvania’s System of Higher Education have announced layoffs in the last two months.

That’s according to theΒ Harrisburg Patriot-News, which says that cuts Edinboro University near Erie announcedΒ TuesdayΒ follow similar staff reductions at Clarion University in August.

The newspaper noted that five other state schools -- Cheyney, East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, Mansfield and Slippery Rock – could potentially see layoffs next year.
