A Washington man has been sentenced in federal court to five years
probation with six months home detention with electronic monitoring, and was ordered to pay $100,821.64 in restitution on his conviction of theft of government property, U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti imposed the sentence on Bruce K. Gaito, 54, of 1205 Lagondo Road.

According to information presented to the court, Gaito fraudulently obtained a
Social Security number in the name of “David Gaito” and used the number to obtain supplemental Security Income Benefits from the Social Security Administration.

Hickton commended the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector
General for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Gaito.
