
Daniel Kapis, 90, of , died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012 in
He was born Dec. 21, 1921 in Washington, a son of John and Frances Haniak Kapis.
Daniel graduated from Trinity High School in 1939. He served his country during WWII as a sergeant with the infantry of the U.S. Army.

He spent most of his life in Canonsburg, and had been employed by McGraw Edison, Duncan Miller and was a bricklayer.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church in Washington.

Dan was an avid gardener, golfer, furniture refinisher and football fan. He loved to dance—especially polka and waltz.
On Feb. 15, 1947 in Immaculate Conception Church he married Alberta Schultz Kapis, who died March 6, 2012.
Surviving are two sons, Daniela Kapis and John (Bobbie) Kapis, all of Canonsburg; two daughters, Christine Kapis of Bentleyville and Marilyn Turner of Kansas City, Kansas; four grandchildren, Sara M. and Casey C. Kapis, and Clare and Christopher (Lisa) Turner, and several nieces and nephews.
Daniel was the last of his immediate family. Deceased are two brothers, Arthur and Joseph Kapis, and three sisters, Adele and Jean Kapis and Nellie Horency.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Monday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the in Canonsburg.
Departing prayers will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at noon at Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, with Father Mark Swoger officiating. Interment will be private in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray.
