
Stella DiMatteo, 94, of Canonsburg, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 in Excella Health Care.
She was born Oct. 5, 1918 in Burgettstown, a daughter of the late Joseph Szczerbienski. She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish, Canonsburg.
Prior to her retirement, Stella worked in the dietary department of Western Center. She also had worked at Mt. Lebanon Country Club and Beck's Restaurant.

Surviving are one son, John Schmidt, of Sandy Lake; and grand child, Emily Fry Schmidt; one daughter, Susan Lucas and her husband Kenneth of Murrysville; grand children David Lucas, and his wife Deidra, of Greensburg; and Eric Lucas, and his wife Susan, of Mt. Washington; great-grand children Paige and Parker, and Presley; four step daughters, Deborah Martin, and her husband John; Catherine DiMatteo; Orlene Napoli; and Annette Merigo; step-grandchildren, Erin and Kristen Martin; Deanna Napoli; and Shaney Burt; brother and sister in law, Dominick and Grace DiMatteo, and their children, Robert Dimatteo, and his wife Linda; and Michael DiMatteo, and his wife Renee; and great nieces and nephews, Adam, Mark, Christopher, Drew, Giavanna, and Gio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oriendo "Gent" DiMatteo; her brothers, Joseph Szczerbienski; and Marian Szcerbienski; and her sister, Helen Antosh.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director.
Departing Prayers will be held in the Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
