Obituary: Terry Eileen Cook, Former Teacher

April 7, 1943 - July 28, 2012

Terry Eileen Cook, 69, of , died Saturday, July 28, 2012, in Allegheny General Hospital.

She was born April 7, 1943 in Canonsburg, a daughter of Raymond and Sara McCready Tiedy

On Nov. 19,1966 she married Elmer E. “Bud” Cook, who died Aug. 11, 2007.

She was a lifelong member of the , where she served as Deacon, and was active with weekly Bible study.

She enjoyed reading, was a sports fan and loved her dog, buddy.

Prior to her retirement, she was an elementary teacher for the Chartiers-Houston School Disrict.

Surviving are her mother, Sara Tiedy of Washington, and two sons, David Cook (Melissa) of Washington and Matthew Cook of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by daughter Susan Lynne Cook, of Washington, three grandchildren Catherine, Samantha and David Cook Jr., three sisters, Bonnie Gavlak (Joseph), of Pittsburgh, Susan Stevenson (John), of Fredrick, MD, and Karen Ream (Robert) of Lady Lakes, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the at 30 E. College St. in Canonsburg.

Services will be held Thursday in the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Peggy Shannon officiating. The time of services will be announced.

Interment will follow at 11 a.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Cecil.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church at 112 W. Pike St., Canonsburg, PA 15317.
