Police Rescue Dog; Get Rid of Bat
Canonsburg police dealt with two animal-related calls over the past few days.

There’s the old cliché about fire departments’ saving cats stuck in trees, but have had their own animal-related calls to handle.
On Saturday morning, the woman, who police did not name, called officers for help when she saw a bat flying around in the bedroom of her 150 Smithfield St. home.
Police arrived around 7:47 a.m. and managed to get the bat to fly out of the house.

Then on Monday morning, officers were called to the 620 Marple Ave. home of Maryann Amic, who told police there was a large dog stuck in a nearby swimming pool and could not get out.
Police responded and rescued the dog from the pool around 5:50 a.m.—with animal control officers later arriving to take the animal.
