Seismic Testing Company to Cecil: We Don't Need to Use Your Roads
Dawson Geophysical withdrew its application to conduct seismic testing on local roadways—an issue that was the subject of recent court action.
supervisors were set to hold a public hearing prior to its August meeting to consider a request by a seismic testing company to use vibroseis trucks on municipal roads—but not anymore.
The company, Dawson Geophysical, wrote the township Tuesday to say it no longer needed to do such testing on the local roads.
"As you are aware, Judge Janet Moschetta Bell, of the Washington County Court of Common Pleas, ,” Bill McIntosh of Dawson said in a hand-delivered letter to the township. “Given that, and the fact that Dawson will complete its seismic work in Cecil Township before the township will hold a hearing on Dawson’s supplemental application, Dawson hereby withdraws its supplemental application.”

Township Manager Don Gennuso said he expects solicitor John Smith to ask attorneys for Dawson to withdraw the injunction—and if the company declines to do so, for the lawyer to file a motion to dismiss it.
