Sen. Tim Solobay, Range Resources Spokesman Among Speakers at Marcellus Shale Festival

The event will be held Thursday at Stage AE in Pittsburgh and will include the local premier of 'FrackNation.'

Want to learn more about Marcellus Shale? BecauseΒ CBS Radio Pittsburgh will host The Marcellus ShaleΒ Festival on Thursday, Aug. 15.

The event will be held fromΒ 2 p.m. toΒ 10 p.m. at Stage AE in Pittsburgh.

The Festival will be held indoors and out, and is designed to "celebrate all that Marcellus Shale brings to our region."

Attendees can expect informationalΒ exhibits, breakout sessions, a KDKA Town Hall Meeting, the PittsburghΒ Premiere of the movie "FrackNation" and a meet and greet with "FrackNation"Β journalist Phelim McAleer and co-producer Ann McElhinney.

The day will beΒ capped off with a show from national recording artist Phil Vassar.Β 

NewsRadio 1020 KDKA personality Mike Pintek will host a Town Hall meeting at 3 p.m. on β€œMarcellus Shaleβ€”A True PublicPrivateΒ Partnership:Β Maximizing the Resource,” that will include a lineup of panel guests:Β Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, state Rep. JimΒ Christiana, state Sen. Tim Solobay, D-Canonsburg,Β U.S Rep. TimΒ Murphy and Matt Pitzarella, spokesman for Southpointe-basedΒ Range Resources.

β€œPeople are still not sure about shale drilling,” Solobay said. β€œThis is a chance for individuals to get their questions answered and learn more about the true economic and environmental impact of drilling.”

The event is free to the public, but aΒ $5 donation to the Mel BlountΒ Foundation isΒ recommended at the door.
