Update: Gracie the Greyhound on the Mend

We heard from owner Sherri Sulkowski and wanted to give an update on the Canonsburg pooch!

So many of you have asked for an update on Gracie the Greyhound, so I wanted to share this update that I received from her "mom," Canonsburg's Sherri Sulkowski.

Just to give some background on Gracie: She was out on a leashed walk while with her owner and was attacked by a dog that broke loose. She got out of her harness and ran. She was missing for 12 days and ran 15-plus miles and was found on Monday, March 10.

This is the email that I received Tuesday morning.

"I thought I would let you know that Grace is doing well! She has a lot of weight to put back on but is eating well. She will have her first check up on Friday and I am anxious to see how many pounds she may have gained—she lost 18 over the course of the 12 days lost. She has various wounds which we hope will heal without any surgery.

The response from everyone was touching and overwhelming. We feel blessed. Thanks for all you did to help us get our little girl back."

You may have already read that an online fundraiser has been started for Gracie's veterinarian bills (which are expected to exceed $3,000). I wanted to give you folks an update on that venture, as well.

As of Tuesday, 33 people had donated $945. The goal is $3,000.
