CV Rolls Out Streamlined Website

Website will have user-friendly features to help parents keep track of grades.

unveiled a redesigned website that will help teachers produce interactive coursework and offer parents more information on their child’s grades.

The streamlined website, which can be found at www.cvsd.net, re-launched earlier this summer in preparation of the school year to become more user-friendly and give the district a fresh online look.

Mike Leonard, the district’s coordinator of Instructional Technology, said there will also be forms and surveys placed online to garner more feedback from parents and teachers.

“From our perspective, it’s just being able to do (more) things,” Leonard said. “It’s much more simplistic. You don’t need a lot of Web knowledge to use it.”

Meanwhile, each parent and student will be given a username and log-in information that can offer more insight into coursework and grades. Leonard said when a teacher records a grade, it will go into the system so the parent can view a student’s progress.

“For the most part it’s always pretty current,” Leonard said. “It gives the parents a little more control. They can set it up to receive e-alerts when new grades are posted, and that helps them to keep tabs.”

District officials also hope the website will be easier to navigate for news and information. The news page has a dropdown menu that includes information on previous board meeting and upcoming events.

Of course, the updated look helps make the district look more attractive to outsiders, Leonard said.

“I think one of the biggest reasons for the changes was just a cleaner, fresher, more user-friendly feature for the website,” Leonard said.
