Antique Mantelpiece Stolen from Home, Police Say

Burglars make off with a mantelpiece and a refrigerator.

A refrigerator and an antique mantelpiece with a combined value of more than $6,500 were stolen from a home in the unit block of West Upsal Street on June 1, police said.

On June 1, the owner of the property received a phone call that an unknown person had gained access to the property around 10 p.m., police said.

When the property owner arrived on the scene he noticed the back door had been forced open, and that the refrigerator as well as an antique wooden mantelpiece had been stolen, police said.

Police valued the refrigerator and the mantelpiece at over $6,500.
