Improvements Made to Ned Wolf Park

Friends of the park install new steps.

Members of the Friends of Ned Wolf Park had new steps installed at the park located at McCallum and West Ellet streets on Tuesday.

The old steps had become cracked and hazardous as well as slippery.

Funding for the project came from the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation.

The steps were made with schist, a type of rock common to the Wissahickon area.

The new steps marked the end of phase one for park renovations.  The friends of the park still need $17,000 to complete phase II.

According to the friends of the park:

This second phase will include a 48' continuous seating surface on top of a schist retaining wall, meant to encourage the community to gather around Ned Wolf Parks central terrace.
