Thursday Tots: Bring your little one to the Wissahickon Environmental Center at 300 W. Northwestern Ave. for an hour of discovery at the Tree House at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Each month we will explore a new topic that celebrates the season.

Thrill Show Tickets: Tickets are still available for the Philadelphia Police Department's annual Thrill Show. All proceeds from the show go towards scholarships for the children of fallen city police officers and firefighters.

This day in history: It's a light history day, so how about some sports. On Sept. 12, 1984, Dwight Gooden sets the baseball record for strikeouts in a season by a rookie with 246, previously set by Herb Score in 1954. Gooden's 276 strikeouts that season, pitched in 218 innings, set the current record.
