WHYY To Feature Historic Home

A Chestnut Hill home known as an architectural landmark will be featured on an upcoming WHYY documentary.

Tucked away in Chestnut Hill is one the most significant pieces of architectural history in the country, if not the world.

The Vanna Venturi House, located on the border of Pastorius Park, is regarded as one of the first works of postmodern architecture in the world.

The home will be feautered on an upcoming documentary titled: 10 Buildings That Changed America.

According to a WHYY press release:

...an hour-long PBS special that tells the story of ten influential works of American architecture and the people who imagined them. Premiering on WHYY-TV on Sunday, May 12 at 10 p.m, the Vanna Venturi House in Philadelphia's Chestnut Hill neighborhood is one of the ten buildings featured in the film.

WHYY will also be hosting a preview screening of the documentary on Tuesday, April 23, where there will be a panel discussion about the film that will include some of the filmakers and architects who worked on the project.

The event starts at 7 p.m. at 150 North Sixth Street, Philadelphia. The event is free for WHYY members, $5 for non-members. Register online at WHYY.com/events.
