Cranberry Offering Summer Movie Series Under The Stars

Disney's "Coco" will be among the offerings.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Few things are more fun that cinema under the stars in the summer, and Cranberry will screen four free blockbuster animated films outdoors during the season.

Here is the schedule:

  • Wednesday June 27: “Moana,” James Wolfe Soccer Field, North Boundary Park..

In this 2016 Walt Disney release, based on stories from Polynesian mythology, Moana Waialiki, the daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators, learns the reason behind her island’s blight and that the only way to heal it would involve an epic journey across the Pacific. Rated PG.

  • Wednesday July 18: “Lion King,” Rotary Amphitheater, Community Park.

In this 1994 Walt Disney classic, a young lion prince is cast out of his pride by a cruel uncle, who claims he killed his father. The prince grows up beyond the Savannah, living by the credo: No worries for the rest of your days. But when his past comes to haunt him, the young prince must decide his fate. Rated G. R

  • Wednesday August 8: Coco,” SportCourts Basketball Court, Graham Park.

In this 2017 Pixar film, 12-year old Miguel dreams of becoming a musician despite his family’s ban on music. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the colorful Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer. Along the way, he learns the real story behind his family history. Rated PG.

  • Wednesday, August 22: “Despicable Me 3,” Municipal Center front lawn.

The mischievous Minions hope that Gru will return to a life of crime after the new boss of the Anti-Villain League fires him. Instead, Gru decides to remain retired and travel to Freedonia to meet his long-lost twin brother for the first time. The reunited siblings soon find themselves in an uneasy alliance to take down the elusive Balthazar Bratt, a former 1980s child star who seeks revenge against the world. Rated PG.

Moviegoers are encouraged to bring their own refreshments, lawn chairs and blankets.
