Owner Of Popular Southwest PA Ice Cream Stand Dies Of Coronavirus
Patrons of the ice cream stand are mourning the loss of the man who ran the stand for more than 50 years.
ZELIENOPLE, PA — The owner of Young's Custard Stand, a Butler County staple for more than a half-century, has died from coronavirus complications. Paul "Windy" Young, 79, died after a brief battle with the virus, according to the stand's Facebook page.
"It is with a heavy heart that I share with you all that we've lost that quick- witted, crabby, sly smirked, long-winded, happy to serve man in the middle. pap, dad, husband, jagoff, Windy, Paul, Mr. Young, the ice cream man, whatever you knew him as, lost his (thankfully short) battle with COVID," the post stated.
Customers immediately offered online condolences following the announcement.

"I’ve known Windy my entire life," Amy Donaldson Schoeffel posted. "Growing up three doors away from the custard stand, I spent a lot of time there. Windy always asked how my family was when I’d see him. The custard stand will definitely be different, but he’ll always be there in spirit."
"Summers will not seem right any more," Dale Pflug posted. "We thank Windy, and all of you for making our lives a little brighter with every visit. We will miss you, kind sir!"
