#1 Cochran Partners with Children's Hospital to Give Away Helmets to Local Children

#1 Cochran has partnered with Children’s Hospital to bring the Hard Head Patrol to the Dormont community. Hard Head Patrol is one of Children’s Hospital’s Injury Prevention initiatives. Children’s employees and medical staff patrol local neighborhoods in a Kia Sedona donated by #1 Cochran, raising awareness about helmet safety. If Hard Head Patrol witnesses a child riding anything with wheels without a helmet, they give the child a coupon for a free helmet and fitting. It is Children’s Hospital’s mission to help parents and children learn that the simple act of wearing a helmet can save lives.

#1 Cochran Hyundai of South Hills will host the next helmet fitting on Thursday, August 9th, from 5-7pm. Anybody with a child over the age of one in need of a helmet or even advice on properly fitting a helmet, are encouraged to attend the event; approximately 275 – 300 helmets will be given away on a first come, first served basis. Coupons for the free helmets are being distributed at various locations throughout the community, including the Dormont Pool, the Dormont Public Library, Municipal Building, the Brookline Memorial Recreation Center and area pediatric offices. Coupons are also available at #1 Cochran Hyundai. Children must be present in order to receive a helmet.

“Helmet safety and awareness are extremely important and we’re excited for the opportunity to make the event easily accessible to the Dormont community.” said Rob Cochran, #1 Cochran President and CEO.
