Borough Of Dormont: Snow Removal Ordinance Reminder

FRIENDLY REMINDER! During winter months when snow falls, it is the responsibility of the property and/or business owners to remove snow and ice from sidewalks and curbs in front of their property within 24 hours after the snow has stopped falling.

The Borough of Dormont Snow Removal Ordinance (Ch 181 §181-19) requires all Borough of Dormont property and business owners to clear snow and ice from sidewalks and curbs in front of their Businesses within 24 hours after snow has stopped falling. The ordinance also prohibits transferring or depositing snow on highways, streets, or alleys within the Borough.
If your property is located on a corner lot you are responsible to remove snow and ice from front, side and rear sections of sidewalk along your property.

Failure to comply with the Borough Code can result in:
• The Borough or Third-Party Agency removing snow and ice from sidewalk and the property owner being liable for costs.
• The property owner receiving a Citation requiring appearance in court plus fines of up to $1,000.00.
The Borough of Dormont recommends standard Rock Salt to be used on sidewalks.
