Brookline’s Brother George Honored at Taste of Brookline

The Brookline community on Sunday honored a friend who residents say represents the best of Brookline.

If you grew up in Brookline, you probably know Brother George.

An honorary fireman who often could be seen with his flashlight and clipboard, checking alarm boxes on Brookline Boulevard, is known for greeting everyone he passed, dedicating himself to work in the community and at his home church, Church of the Resurrection.

Community members say George Gilfoyle is a man who represents the best of Brookline.
