Do You Remember Your First Lunchbox?

Plastic with cartoon characters? Brown paper bag? What did you have?

It's the first day of school for students, and the district's kindergartners are embarking on the first day of their academic careers.

Many of them probably are carrying their first lunchboxes, and they'll probably remember them forever. I remember mine—in fact, I still have mine.

On my first day of kindergarten, I walked into the classroom armed with a set of fabulous clip-on earrings, a Mister Rogers backpack, and of course, a 'My Little Pony' lunchbox (it was, after all, 1991).

Carrying that lunchbox into school made me feel the way I imagined adults felt walking into work with a briefcase. I was Important. I was Responsible. I was ready to take on the day.

I'm told I left school that day yelling, "I love this place!" and that I couldn't wait to go back for Day 2. My love for school faded over the years, and by high school, I was carrying a brown bad lunch like everyone else.

But most of my friends still have their first lunchbox. Even cooler? My mom still has her tin Flintstones lunchbox, from her first day of school.

Do you still have yours? What did it look like? If you still have it, post your pictures here!
