Dormont Begins Beggs Snyder Park Playground Demolition

The playground at Beggs Snyder Park is being razed because of safety issues.

DORMONT, PA — Borough officials are moving quickly to address the safety issues that have prompted the closure of its three playgrounds.

Council has authorized up to $100,000 to replace Beggs Snyder Playground and the public works, parks and street departments on Tuesday began removing the Beggs Snyder playground equipment. The space soon will be leveled.

Borough officials have begun discussions with multiple playground vendors for the replacement equipment.

The closures at Beggs Snyder, Dormont and Hillsdale parks occurred suddenly last week when the borough's insurance carrier said it no longer would insure the playgrounds because of safety issues.
