DORMONT, PA — Now nearly 30 years old, the Dormont Junction light rail station is about to get a major makeover.

The station will be reconstructed, with the station canopy being replaced. Being added are pedestrian amenities, safety features, landscaping, bicycle racks and more will be added. Officials at a news conference Monday to announce the project said the goal is to have a safer and more welcoming station - particularly for pedestrians and passengers with disabilities- and to build a more walkable, accessible community in Dormont.

“Public transit brings our communities together, getting people to work, school, appointments, errands, and so much else,” said U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio, who announced $500,000 in federal funds have been secured for the station renovation.
