Dormont's New Beggs Snyder Playground Almost Finished

Here's an update on the construction of Dormont's new Beggs Snyder playground.

(Dormont Borough)

DORMONT, PA — Beggs Snyder’s much-anticipated new playground is nearing completion.

Beggs Snyder, Dormont and Hillsdale parks playgrounds closures occurred suddenly in October when the borough's insurance carrier said it no longer would insure the playgrounds because of safety issues.

Borough officials said this week that at Beggs Snyder, the Public Works and Parks Department have finished the timber borders, poured the footers, and backfilled the plots with stone and underdrains. Most of the equipment has been installed and next steps include laying the field turf by YOCCA Playgrounds.

Once the surfacing has been laid, the final pieces of equipment will be installed. Borough officials are asking people to hold off playing on the equipment until the project is finished.

An official opening date has yet to be announced.
