Liberty Bridge And Tunnel: Here's The Upcoming Work Schedule

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Independence Day holiday occurs next week, but except for July 4 PennDOT isn’t taking a holiday from detours around the Liberty Tunnel.
The outbound tunnel will close to traffic from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on July 2, 3, 5 and 6 as crews conduct installation of electrical conduit and cables, work on safety and control systems, and integrated equipment installation. The inbound tunnel will not be impacted. All outbound traffic will be detoured. No work will occur on Wednesday night, July 4.
Here’s the outbound detour::
- Turn right onto PJ McArdle Roadway.
- Continue straight onto Merrimac Street.
- Turn right onto Woodruff Street.
- Follow Woodruff Street to Route 51/19 (Saw Mill Run Boulevard).
- Turn left onto Route 51/19 and follow back to Route 19 (West Liberty Avenue).
- End detour.
