Nate Shouted Out As A Brookline Star Student
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's a local resident who is making an impact in Brookline.

BROOKLINE, PA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Nicole Maxwell who nominated Nate - a junior from Brookline.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Nate has never been one to sit idle. Television and video games never kept his interest. When he was in 7th grade he took great pride in asking us (his parents) if he could take over the yard duties. We thought it may last a few weeks with weed whacking, mowing, edging, mulching, etc… in the hot weather. However, he soon became so good at what he was doing he would offer to do the same for neighbors on the street.
By 8th grade, he would wake up very early and push his mower with his weed whacker and blower on his back up and down our Brookline street. His work ethic was truly commendable. He saved every penny he earned. His tremendous work and attention to detail spread the old fashion way- by word of mouth. Soon he was pushing up his mower to other streets after school & on the weekend.
When he became a freshmen at Central Catholic, he asked me if I would put an ad on our Brookline FB page. Soon he started a full fledged business! Nate and his dad would pack up all of the equipment in the trunk of my husband’s little Subaru and my husband would drive him all around Brookline to Nate’s customers. Nate found a love of helping his neighbors and learning new skills and took pride in a job well done. He continued to save every penny and researched better equipment to offer new services to his customers. He upgraded his equipment and by the time he turned 16, Nate was able to purchase his very own truck!
Nate works every single day after school and on the weekends. He balances academics and a business seamlessly. He offers mowing, weed-whacking, edging, mulching, small tree removal, shaping of shrubs/hedges, leaf removal, & snow removal. He is truly an entrepreneur who has gained a stellar reputation among Brookline and surrounding communities as “Nate the Great-The Hardworking Neighborhood Kid!” He will be in the middle of mowing and a stranger driving by will stop and yell, “Hey, are you Nate?” Once confirmed the person will exclaim, “Keep up the great work, kid! There’s not too many teens like you!” There’s truly not.
Nate is unique. He is self-mow-tivated and is always talking about the next step in growing his business and improving his craft. His customers absolutely love him. They know he’s accountable, respectful, honest, and capable. He’s the real deal! Brookline has embraced his entrepreneurial mindset and has wholeheartedly supported his business “Maxwell Lawn Care.” He’s come a long way in a few years, but this kid has big dreams and ambitions. We are truly blessed to live in such a wonderful community.
