Outbound Liberty Tunnel Facing Overnight Closures

PITTSBURGH, PA - The outbound Liberty Tunnel will be closed overnight this week beginning Monday.

The tunnel will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 p.m. friday until noon Saturday so crews can conduct concrete placement, installation of electrical conduit and cables, work on safety and control systems, and integrated equipment installation.

The inbound tunnel will not be impacted. All outbound traffic should use this detour:

• Turn right onto PJ McArdle Roadway.
• Continue straight onto Merrimac Street.
• Turn right onto Woodruff Street.
• Follow Woodruff Street to Route 51/19 (Saw Mill Run Boulevard).
• Turn left onto Route 51/19 and follow back to Route 19 (West Liberty Avenue).
• End detour.
