2nd Central Bucks East Student Athlete Tests Positive For COVID

A second student athlete at Central Bucks High School East has tested positive for coronavirus, the school district confirmed.

A second student athlete at Central Bucks High School East has tested positive for coronavirus, the school district confirmed in a news release Friday.

Superintendent John Kopicki said the district was informed Thursday that the student tested positive for COVID-19. The case was immediately reported to the county health department, he said.

"The student and coaching staff followed the guidelines in the athletics health and safety plan, reported the necessary information to the Central Bucks School District, and the student is currently self-isolated for the appropriate number of days," Kopicki said in a news release.

This marks the second confirmed case of coronavirus in a student athlete at the high school since Sep. 5.

The Bucks County Department of Health will oversee a contact tracing process, and parents whose children came into close personal contact with the student will be notified by the department, the news release said.
